But this is far from the truth - in fact, the Bible paints a very different picture, where some of the most devout and Godly followers had struggles, suffered greatly, questioned God, and went through physical and spiritual battles.

The period of Advent is the four Sundays preceding Christmas, marking the arrival of the special season. The word, in its Latin origin, means an arrival or something that is to come. As we all eagerly await no school, vacation, presents, and snowballs, Pastor Ken explains how generations of Godly people looked forward to and hoped for the coming of their Messiah, Jesus Christ. Now, in 2017, may we still hold onto that hope and prepare our hearts for the true meaning of Christmas, just as our predecessors did two thousand years ago.

Anyone who has at least some experience with the Christian subculture probably has heard the word "revival" before. What comes to mind is probably a big gathering with a lot of music, a charismatic preacher pumping up the crowd, or an emotional evangelistic meeting for spreading the Gospel. However, long before those pictures of a revival became the normal, revivals were taking place among God's people, even in the Old Testament.

In the Bible, if we closely examine the New Testament, you will notice that the word for "friend" does not appear much in the text. Instead, once Jesus' ministry was through, and the early church was springing up, words like "brother," "sister," and "family" become much more prevalent and almost dominate the literary landscape of books such as Acts and the Epistles.

Building off of the previous "Back to the Basics" sermons, Pastor Ken takes us through the next steps Christians should take so that our spiritual lives do not stay immature like infants, but can grow and blossom as devoted followers of our Lord Jesus.

Some people have been Christians for so long that they have forgotten the basic core tenets of our faith that should be driving us. Others are very passionate about God, but don't know the implications of and procedures for being a true follower of Jesus.
